Overview: John Hunter

John Hunter has a strong foundation in manufacturing operations and process and engineering development, bringing a wide range of capabilities to his clients.

On completing his B.Sc. Honors in Biochemistry at the University of Bristol in the UK, John entered the grain milling industry. John had extensive operations management and technical experience with Allied Mills and Bowmans Milling, across a wide range of processes including grain milling, starch/gluten processing, glucose syrup production, specialty bakery premixes, specialty blending and thermal processing. From early on in his career John was involved in the technical and operational development of existing and new processes.

John has carried out a range of process improvement projects implementing Lean initiatives to improve productivity and quality. John is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.

John joined IMI Vision, a technology development group of IMI plc, tasked to develop step change technologies supporting the IMI businesses. As director of operations/program manager, John led a number of programs developing novel technologies across a range of applications including medical devices, beverage dispense, severe service and in-vitro diagnostics. IMI Vision holds patents or patent applications for 57 separate inventions, with John as co-inventor for 8 patents or patent applications.

John earned his Project Management Professional certification through PMI and has extensive experience managing capital and development projects.

John is a dynamic, technically proficient leader with a wide range of demonstrated capability from grain milling and food manufacture to the development of innovative medical device technology. He has extensive international experience in operations, engineering, program management and quality assurance, leading the development of manufacturing processes and new technology products, consistently delivering benefit to the bottom line.
